The legends of Pushkar are associated with Lord Brahma, one of this legend say that Lord Brahma killed to the demon Vajra Nabh with a Lotus flower in a battle, the petals of the flower floated down to earth and landed in three places in and around Pushkar where lakes sprang up.

Another legend, which is came of the legendary time, relate the history of the Lord Brahma when he was flying over Rajasthan desert on his swan, in this moment some petals fell from his hand and drifted down. In the places where the flowers had touched the soft sands, miraculously sprang blue lakes. But his wife Savitri was not with him and the yanga would be incomplete without her, then Lord Brahma decide married with a local girl and sat down without his wife. When Savitri landed on the earth and upon finding this new bride sitting next to the Brahma, she was raged with fury and cursed him that he would never be worshipped anywhere else on earth.
