Christmas

Christmas in India is celebrated like in all part of the world, with great fervor; it is the most important and the gayest festival of the Christians. In this day Christians all over of the world celebrate the birth or nativity of Jesus Christ, on 25th of December every year.

People in India decorate their houses, and Christmas trees, where hang stars, gifts and illuminate them. On the Christmas day, carols are singed, get-together and the exchanging of gifts among friend and relatives to enhance the Christmas spirit, and people enjoy a sumptuous Christmas lunch, that include Christmas cakes and wine, which are served to visitors. The stores and many places are decorated with Christmas motives especially in metropolitan cities.

During the British period Christmas was a very important festival, and celebrated on an all-India. Now this festival lost much of its official importance, but the Christians even are the third religion most important in India.
