The State of Goa is located in the west coast of India, with 3702 square kilometers Goa is the smallest State in the Union of States of India in terms of area, and is the fourth state with less population with only 13,42,998 people living and working there. The State is divided in two district North Goa and South Goa. The Goa State lies in the western coast of India known as the Konkan area.

The state was Portuguese colony by 450 years, coming to be one of the longest possessions in the world, and was liberated in 1961; until 1987 Goa was part of the Union territory of Goa with Daman & Diu, on 30 May of that year was carved out to form a separate State. The boundaries of the State are defined in the West by the Arabian Sea, in the East and South by Karnata State and in the North with the Terekhol River which separate it from Maharashtra State. The state is to 594 Kilometers by road away from Mumbai City.

Panjim is the Capital of Goa State, located in the West of the Goa’s North District, and Margao is the capital of the District of the South Goa, the most historic city too, and the second largest city; Vasco da Gama or simply Vasco is the largest city in Goa State. The state has eleven talukas, six in the North Goa with an area of 1736 square kilometers and five in the South Goa with an area of 1966 square kilometers, and has also 383 villages, 233 are in the North District, and 150 are in the South District; the State has also 44 towns, and 14 of them are Municipalities.

The cities in Goa have the Portuguese style in their buildings and culture. These buildings form part of the world heritage architecture, one of them building is the Basilica of Bom Jesus that is one of the biggest Christian pilgrimage sites in Asia. The Hindu community is bigger than Christians but there you can find churches everywhere.

The best of Goa is the beaches, flora and fauna, by these reasons is known how “The Pearl of the Orient” and is a Tourist Paradise, Goa is visited by several foreign and domestic tourist each year, the natural sceneries that offer the coastal line of Goa makes of the State in the most popular holiday destinations for European travelers, but Goa is located on the Western Ghats range, which is classified as a biodiversity hotspot.

Goa is charm land, where you can relax in its golden beaches and silver sands, these beaches are also very popular by its trance parties, and many hippies go there by its festival and holidays parties, especially in the moon parties.
