The east region of the India include to the states of West Bengal, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, and Nagaland. Calcutta is a good starting point for your travels in eastern India and the base to explore the east region of India.

Calcutta maybe is considered the City of Joy, and is the capital of the West Bengal State, in the city is located the Victorian Memorial, a magnificent building in white marble, where is kept a collection of paintings, manuscripts and memorabilia. Other attractions of the city are the Fort William, the Raj Bhawan, the St. Paulís Cathedral, the Town Hall built in the Doric style, Marble Palace, Botanical garden, etc. But Calcutta also is known by its poverty, and as the Mother Teresaís home.

But West Bengal comprises more destinations as Darjeeling where you can see the Mount Everest, Tibetan Monasteries, Himalayan Tribal Life, Pine Trees, etc. and go there by the heritage of Toy Train, and admire of the peaks of the Himalaya ranges. Or explore Sunderbans, where is preserved the wildlife of the Royal Tiger of Bengal, in these evergreen mangrove forest pulsate with a myriad form of life, other jungles are Dooars and Jaldapara for wildlife destinations. West Bengal also includes Religious sites, golden beaches, hill stations and historical buildings.

Explore other States of the east region, as Assam and its Brahmaputra Valley, or the north states of Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland where are beautiful hill station for trekking by trails and colorful cultures and to enjoy the nature, with pretty hills grassy downs and lakes making of this region a special destination.
